Case study - Folkestone

In early 2010 Alliance Leisure was awarded the contract to redevelop the Folkestone Sports centre on behalf of the Trust. The scheme was delivered on-time and on-budget and handed back in September 2010.

The project brief was to utilize existing spaces more efficiently within the facility, and uplift a tired building, to increase income opportunities. The fitness provision was extended and the centre became DDA compliant.

The scheme itself included

  • Feasibility and business planning
  • Refurbishment of a large old cafĂ© area into a new fitness facility, spinning studio, children’s fitness zone
  • Creating a Toning Table Facility
  • Reconfiguration of reception area
  • Upgrade of corridors
  • Refurbishment of changing area
  • Refurbishment of an old pub into a vibrant coffee experience
  • Upgrade to the front of the building

Alliance have also provided a 5 year partnership agreement with the trust to deliver sales, marketing and training. Within the first 3 months of opening memberships more than tripled from 600 to 2,100.
