Case study - Forest of Dean District Council

Alliance Leisure designed, built and project managed three developments for Forest of Dean District Council following a £1.3m investment from the authority.

Five Acres Leisure Centre:
This project consisted of a £160k investment converting a redundant bar into a ‘family’ fitness facility. To give a diverse range of equipment that would appeal to both adults and juniors the kit comprised of powerplates, Trixster bikes, boxing area, Makato, Dance mats, 10m running track, CV machines and Roc-it Strength equipment. After just 3 months of opening 21% of the 350 direct debit customers were juniors.

Newent Leisure Centre:
To upgrade the current swimming changing facilities and provide a larger fitness suite the authority invested £640k at Newent Leisure Centre. A small fitness room was converted into a dedicated swimming pool changing area and the dry school changing facilities were replaced and the old area became a large new fitness suite.

Wyedean Leisure Centre:
Following a £580k investment this traditional conversion of squash courts and classrooms resulted in a dedicated health and fitness offering with a new reception and refurbished school changing accommodation.
