Online Reviews

By John Leaver

When was the last time you checked what your customers are saying about you on-line?  What value do you place on these reviews?

90% of consumers read online reviews before visiting a business

88% of consumers trust online reviews as much as personal recommendations

92% of users will use a local business if it has at least a 4-star rating

So, where do you need to be looking?  Here are our 5 recommended sites to be monitoring for reviews and feedback.

When a consumer searches for your business on Google a Google profile will be displayed giving them information about your business.  This also includes reviews of your services.  If you haven’t already you need to ‘Claim this Business’ listing and then you can respond and monitor these reviews.

Google Reviews will also help attract customers to your business when faced with a choice of other similar service providers.  Take a look at the example below.  Roefield Leisure has 4.1 stars out of 5 whereas the other gyms in the area don’t have any reviews.  Provided your reviews are good then this will help customers make a more informed choice.

If your business page is setup properly then your visitors will be able to leave reviews on your page.  Make sure you monitor, like and respond to these in your Admin panel.

Often appearing on the first page of Google results Yell is a valuable platform to be aware of and monitor your business listing.  Take a look at the example below.  Even though Swinton Leisure Centre falls 3rd in the list, its 5 star review will probably attract more attention than being number one.

Probably the best-known review website is starting to attract more and more listings for local leisure centres and health clubs.

With 55 million active monthly users Foursquare is one to keep an eye on.  Most businesses, including leisure centres and clubs, have been added by users checking-in to those premises.  As with most of the platforms above you need to claim your listing to take control over what is being said about your brand and services.
