In early 2010, Alliance Leisure was awarded the contract to redevelop the Folkestone Sports Centre on behalf of the Trust. The scheme was delivered on time and on budget and handed back in September 2010.

The project brief was to utilize existing spaces more efficiently within the facility, and uplift a tired building, to increase income opportunities. The fitness provision was extended and the centre became DDA compliant.

The scheme itself included:

+ Feasibility and business planning

+ Refurbishment of a large old café area into a new fitness facility, spinning studio and children’s fitness zone

+ Creating a toning table facility

+ Reconfiguration of reception area

+ Upgrade of corridors

+ Refurbishment of changing area

+ Refurbishment of an old pub into a vibrant coffee experience

+ Upgrade to the front of the building

Alliance Leisure’s role in this project was:

+ Risk management

+ Project management and CDM-C

+ Design and building works

+ Equipment

+ Marketing, sales and staff training

Alliance has also provided a 5-year partnership agreement with the Trust to deliver sales, marketing and training.   Within the first 3 months of opening, membership more than tripled from 600 to 2,100.
