Following a comprehensive market assessment and business planning exercise by national leisure consultants, it was proposed to convert the indoor bowls hall at Wentworth Leisure Centre into a high-quality tenpin bowling facility.
The 600,000 investment starting in Spring, 2010 comprised an 8-lane bowling area and creation of a new bar/cafe and extension to the existing children’s soft play provision.
Tenpin bowling is a popular activity attracting a broad variety of people and age groups. However, the design and feel of this ‘boutique’ style venue has a very different revenue mix than more traditional bowling centres due to a greater focus on dining and creation of a more family orientated atmosphere. The design is also more recognisable to mainstream tenpin bowling centres due to its location, size and the amount of space devoted to dining.
The development was supported by the Alliance team in partnership with North Country Leisure, involving creation a new logo, brand, promotional literature and sales training for Wentworth Bowl.
The tenpin bowling alley is expected to attract 36,500 visits a year, with over 10,000 different people using the facility annually.
